The researchers, after evaluating more than 3,000 people, discovered that people who place importance on self-compassion had better lifestyle habits. Meaning, they exercised more, slept better and ate healthier. According to the study, these same people were also kind to themselves when negative things happened – they were less likely to stress themselves out and were not overly self-critical.
It Strengthens Your Relationships
According to a study conducted at the University of Texas, people with partners who practised self-love are likely to be happier in their relationship, as opposed to those with self-critical better halves. According to the researchers, people who make it a priority to make themselves feel happy also find it easier to take responsibility for their mistakes, and then move to correct it.
While self-pampering is something you can just do every once in a while, it is a must to practice self-care daily. Self-care is sometimes as simple as setting aside a few minutes to appreciate your best qualities and the achievements you are most proud of. This practice, referred to by some professionals as self-affirmation, can help you feel more sympathetic towards yourself.
